SUMMARY:Alcoholics Anonymous (Men Only)
DESCRIPTION:The Awakening Men’s Group holds a 60-minute MEN ONLY Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting every Monday evenings at the Fellowship Centre. AA meetings provide mutual support between those who are at various stages of the recovery journey. Some men have been sober for decades; others are still drinking but want a better life. Topics for discussion alternate between a Step from the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions and the Act of Surrender Recovery Cards which focus on men’s issues such as relationship and workplace challenges. Men who attend this meeting report that they feel increased camaraderie and are more able to share their thoughts and feelings honestly when only men are present. All men are welcome regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. There is no cost to attend\, although all AA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.

SUMMARY:Alcoholics Anonymous
DESCRIPTION:The Sunshine Meeting is a 60-minute Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) discussion meeting held Tuesday mornings at the Fellowship Centre. The chairperson of the meeting selects topics to facilitate discussion. Topics are typically focussed on self-improvement because happy people are more likely to recover from addiction than those who continue to wallow in misery and self-pity. The following is read aloud at the beginning of almost all AA meetings because it summarizes the nature and purpose of such meetings: \nAlcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy\, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. \n All are welcome regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. There is no cost to attend\, although all AA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.

DESCRIPTION:The Fellowship Nooner is a 60-minute Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings at noon 365 days a year. AA is a fellowship of people who share their experience\, strength\, and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. All are welcome regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. There is no cost to attend\, although all AA meetings asking for voluntary donations to support the meeting. \nA fundamental assumption of AA and all 12-Step recovery programs is that we work on ourselves to become better people. Those attending the Fellowship Nooner meetings share their thoughts on readings such as those presented in daily addiction recovery readers. For example\, from August 6 in Daily Reflections: Driven by a hundred forms of fear\, self-delusion\, self-seeking\, and self-pity\, we step on the toes of our fellows\, and they retaliate. From April 6 in Walk in Dry Places: I’ll check myself today to see if false pride is dictating what I say and do. SUMMARY:Overeaters Anonymous
DESCRIPTION:Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a program that offers recovery from compulsive eating. Worldwide meetings and other tools provide a fellowship of experience\, strength and hope where members respect one another’s anonymity. OA charges no dues or fees; it is self-supporting through member contributions. OA is not about weight or diets. It addresses physical\, emotional and spiritual well-being which lead to compulsive overeating. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet. OA members differ in many ways\, but we are united by our common compulsion and the solution we have found in the OA program. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. Welcome to Overeaters Anonymous. Welcome home.

SUMMARY:SMART Recovery (Friday)
DESCRIPTION:Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART Recovery) is a 60-minute weekly meeting held at the Fellowship Centre every Friday at 7:00 PM. Based on psychological approaches\, SMART Recovery was established in 1994 in the USA to help those seeking an evidenced-informed alternative to 12-Step addiction recovery support. \nIn a group context\, a specially trained SMART Recovery facilitator helps people with substance dependencies or problem behaviours to: 1) build and maintain motivation to recover\, 2) cope with urges and cravings\, 3) manage thoughts\, feelings and behaviours\, and 4) live a balanced life. \nAll are welcome regardless of the nature or extent of their recovery or addiction. There is no cost to attend this meeting\, although all SMART Recovery meetings welcome donations to cover meeting costs.

SUMMARY:Alcoholics Anonymous
DESCRIPTION:The Imagine a New Freedom Group holds an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting every Saturday morning at the Fellowship Centre. In the meeting\, individual sharing of recovery experience\, strength and hope is guided a Step\, Tradition\, Promise\, and Principle. The 12 Steps outline the AA program of recovery. Each of these 12 Steps is associated with a Spiritual Principle and a Promise of improved life-experiences. The Twelve Traditions provide guidelines for relationships between the AA groups\, AA members\, the global AA community and larger society. For example\, the following would guide the discussion in this meeting every twelve weeks: \nStep 1: We admitted we were powerless over alcohol — that our lives are becoming manageable. \nPrinciple 1: Honesty \nPromise 1: We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. \nTradition 1: Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon AA unity. \nAll are welcome to this people-helping-people-meeting\, regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. There is no cost to attend\, although all AA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.

SUMMARY:Sex Addicts Anonymous
DESCRIPTION:Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA) is a 60-minute meeting to support recovery from compulsive sexual behaviour. As a community of recovering sex addicts\, SAA offers a message of hope to anyone who suffers from sex addiction. Through long and painful experience\, we came to realize that we were powerless over our sexual thoughts and behaviours and that our preoccupation with sex was causing progressively severe adverse consequences for us\, our families\, and our friends. Despite many failed promises to ourselves and attempts to change\, we discovered that\, by ourselves\, we were unable to stop acting out sexually. Many of us came to this realization when we started attending SAA meetings. In that setting we heard stories like ours and realized that recovery from our problem was possible. We learned through the SAA program that we were not hopelessly defective. \nWe find a new way of living through the SAA program and carry our message to others seeking recovery. Our Saturday evening meeting offers an accepting\, non-threatening environment where we can share our common struggles and learn how to apply the principles of SAA to our everyday lives. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop addictive sexual behaviour. There is no cost to attend\, although all SAA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.
