The Imagine a New Freedom Group holds an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting every Saturday morning at the Fellowship Centre. In the meeting, individual sharing of recovery experience, strength and hope is guided a Step, Tradition, Promise, and Principle. The 12 Steps outline the AA program of recovery. Each of these 12 Steps is associated with a Spiritual Principle and a Promise of improved life-experiences. The Twelve Traditions provide guidelines for relationships between the AA groups, AA members, the global AA community and larger society. For example, the following would guide the discussion in this meeting every twelve weeks:
Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over alcohol — that our lives are becoming manageable.
Principle 1: Honesty
Promise 1: We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
Tradition 1: Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon AA unity.
All are welcome at this people-helping-people-meeting, regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. There is no cost to attend, although all AA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.
