ISMs is a 60-minute Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting held each Tuesday evening at the Fellowship Centre. AA meetings are for mutual support between those who are at various stages of the recovery journey. Some attending this meeting have been sober for many years; others are still drinking but want a better life. ISM is an acronym frequently used in 12-Step recovery to refer to less than ideal recovery behavior. For example:
ISM = I Self-will Me
ISM = I Sponsor Myself
ISM = I Skip Meetings
ISM = I Sabotage Myself
ISM = Incredibly Short Memory
ISM = Impatience Selfishness Manipulation
ISM = Internal Spiritual Malady
All are welcome regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. There is no cost to attend, although all AA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.
