The Girlfriend Hour is a 60-minute LADIES ONLY Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting held at the Fellowship Centre every Sunday morning. AA meetings provide peer-to-peer recovery support. The meeting is organized around the book A Woman’s Way Through the Twelve Steps. Books are available at cost, or a copy of the section of the book being read/discussed is available. Ladies at the meeting read aloud and discuss sections from the book. To illustrate, topics read/discussed include:
- Looking Good on the Outside
- A New Feminine Form of Power
- Mother Guilt
- Over-Responsibility and Passivity
- Emotional Absence and Emotional Dishonesty
All women are welcome regardless of the nature or extent of their addiction or recovery. The book A Woman’s Way Through the Twelve Steps is inclusive of all addictions, for example, alcoholism, eating disorders and drug addiction. There is no cost to attend, although all AA meetings ask for voluntary donations to support the meeting.
